This video was a great help. I just bought my first short reed call and have been practicing for the last 2 days and your tips are awesome.
i cant get a low note on my short reed it just sounds all crackly and not goosey got any tips
How dose that call sound over 100 yards? i have a short reed call that dose not sound good within 50 yard, this makes it vary difficalt to get the birds to comit to landing. i would like a short reed call that is better sounding close up, that will also work grate from along ways away.
liked the video, and i just got into using short reed goose calls, im pro on using flute calls and most people stare in amazement on how good i am using it, like you said i can produce up to 6 geese at once at multiple different tones with my flutes. But heres my question, my short reed calls i have sound “nazel-ly” why is this? bad call? not enough wind force? Would love some advice soon, got some competitions coming up
wow this video make it alot esier than the video tht came with my call.. thank u!!! and good luck to ya
Awesome
You don’t blow with your cheeks. You will not get the sound you want. You need to get your air from your stomach not your mouth. Tighten your tummy muscles and say “hook” adjust your back pressure so that you are getting a deep tone. You don’t want to have all deep tones so it is okay to throw in a higher cluck or a honk. Just remember to use your stomach muscles and not your throat or mouth. I hope this comment helps you out.
why does he have hunter grounds calls on?
Trying to make this sound as least gay as possible but my friend was tryin to teach me how to blow a goose call and every time I blew the call he said ur blowin with ur cheeks but how else are u suppose to blow into the call ?
@coconuthead900000 trust me i didnt do all this basics as they call them i just make a cave with my hand and an offhand and that works for flutes and short reeds. the first goose call that i learned was a flute so i would get used to using all the air needed and got a tape recorder and a nice place to call and tokk me close to a year just to make a cluck but trust me it is very rewarding. having someone else call just makes it feel like your not doing anything.
The best instruction I have yet to find online. Thank you. You should have your own show!

@selling94 ive had “hut” suggested to me a few times.
@selling94 I am just learning but i have had a lot of success from watching a Primos video and they suggested twitt or oock, i find oock is a little easier for me. I have progressed really well in a short time, and believe me, i aint the sharpest tool in the shed

This video is fantastic and what an awesome instruction…I’m in!
gotta say vids like this are really helpful to someone just starting calling, sadly I don’t think I’ll get much of a chance at the geese this year, but just leaning calling is pretty fun, so when they come… I’ll be ready!
Cheers
